My Story ~ a quick glance

My name is Lynn Amatuzio and I became very interested in health and alternative therapies in my early twenties. I decided to enrol in the Human Kinetics program at Ottawa University. During the 4-year program, I worked at a natural health food store called the Wheat Berry where I was introduced to a plethora of unconventional methods of eating and healing.

After graduating, I worked as a L.I.T. coordinator at Camp Minwassin. This job was great for me as I was able to teach and share my passion for the great outdoors. My job was to "mould" selected campers into future camp leaders through challenges such as ropes course, canoe-tripping and such. The best part of my job was that I had the opportunity to educate young adults on the importance of proper nutrition, physical activity and the healing properties of the wilderness. The following summer I had planned to return but injured my left knee while rollerblading. I accepted a summer position at the Ontario Teacher’s Insurance Plan and moved to Waterloo. I worked at OTIP as an Insurance Broker for over 7 years and decided that I needed to return to the outdoors and found a job as a canoe and kayak instructor / trip leader for Canadian Wilderness Trips. I met my husband that summer and in the fall, we left for a 6-month trip to the South Pacific.

My interest in nutrition, physical activity, wilderness and mental wellbeing seemed to intensify after the birth of our two wonderful children Mia & Nico. I decided to enrol in the Holistic Nutrition program at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition to better understand the impact that dietary choices have on our family’s health and wellbeing.

In December 2007, I met a Nutritionist/Allergist and the stories she shared about her work totally inspired me to register in the Holistic Allergist program at the Institute of Natural Health Technologies. Isn’t it wonderful how fate works? My profession now combines my passion for health, nutrition and wellbeing while at the same time allowing me to educate and empower my clients.

I would feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to assist you on your path to optimum health!

Sincerely,

Lynn Amatuzio

Registered Holistic Allergist (R.H.A.) – Institute of Natural Health Technologies

Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner (R.N.C.P.) – International Organization of Nutritional Consultants

What is an R.N.C.P. (Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner)?

An R.N.C.P. is a nutritional professional that is registered with the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants (IONC). This non-profit organization was founded in 1983 to create public awareness and regulate the standards of education for nutritional consultants.

The title of Nutritionist is not regulated by law; therefore anyone may call themselves a nutritional counsellor.

The IONC ensures the public that nutritional practitioners with the designation R.N.C.P. have studied nutrition in depth at a credible educational institution. They also must maintain high ethical and educational standards.

NOTE:

Registered Holistic Allergists are not medical doctors and do not use medical diagnostic or treatment procedures.

The services performed by Holistic Allergists are at all times restricted to consultation on the subject of nutritional matters or the sensitivities to various substances, and does not involve the use of scratch tests, needles or blood tests to verify the client’s sensitivities, allergies or intolerances to foods or environmental substances.  All testing is done for experimental or educational purposes only and does not involve the diagnosing, curing, prognosticating, treatment or prescribing of remedies for the treatment of disease or any act, which will constitute the practice of medicine in this province in which a license is required.

Many insurance companies are now covering R.N.C.P. services. Please check with your insurance carrier to find out if you have coverage.
